About Me
The hands, heart, and intention behind OccuringsBoxes.
The Maker & The Craft
And yes—"Occuring" is missing a letter. It's intentional. Think of it as a little imperfection built right into the name, just like the wood I work with.
One day I was looking for an enclosed burner that was handmade, and I ordered one—only to realize it was made thousands of miles away and mass produced—yet it was technically handmade. That's when it clicked: I could create something that truly served my practice and provide an asset to others. That led me to create what you see here—my box creations, totally transparent in the different handmade configurations I myself was seeking.
Every incense burner box, tarot holder, and crystal vessel is crafted by yours truly in my small shop in Bellingham, WA. My process is deeply rooted in patience and a profound respect for natural materials.
I embrace the unique knots, shifting grains, and perceived "flaws" in the sustainable and reclaimed wood I source. I believe these aren't imperfections, but rather the character and history of the earth shining through. The result is something perfectly imperfect—each piece gets to live on in a new form to tell a different story.
My Practice
"My boxes are part of my practice, and I'm confident they can become an element of yours. — LB"
As a career tradesperson, I appreciate and enjoy the elements of creation. This is a facet of my life and a passion where I'm able to share my actual private practice with the world.
As a lifelong resident of this community, my work carries a deep connection to the land where it's born. The photos throughout my site are taken right from the backdoor of my workshop—no photoshop, no filters, just a phone camera—where the environment meets the craft. From moon phases to sunlit mornings, through every storm and all four seasons in full swing, the view from the back of my shop is honestly its own kind of magic. Mt. Baker standing watch in the distance just ties it all together—a constant reminder that nature's cycles touch everything I create.
Check out my Facebook for regular photos of the view from the back of the shop—it's too amazing to keep to ourselves.
